The 'Borderless Landscape Tourism' project, which RLKM submitted together with 12 other partners from RivierPark Maasvallei and Unesco Mens & Biosfeergebied KempenBroek, was approved in June 2023. This will provide European funding over the next three years to further develop landscape tourism in both (border) areas. Consider not only additional promotion or signposting, but also the (re)design of certain sites. The carrying capacity of the landscape is paramount.
Moreover, the border region in both RivierPark Maasvallei and Unesco Mens & Biosfeergebied KempenBroek still has plenty of undiscovered stories and places, which can mitigate the crowds elsewhere and give opportunities to the local (leisure) economy.
