Skimming, throwing, flicking, or sliding stones...

Whatever you call it, Saturday, May 9, is the day! That's when the very first Belgian-Dutch Stone Skimming Championship will take place in the Maas Valley River Park. A sport that has been wildly popular in Scotland for years is now coming to our banks of the Meuse. And believe us: they are perfect for it!
Everyone can participate: young, old, experienced or beginner – it's all about fun and a bit of healthy competition.
There are three categories: 'Jung' (-16 years), 'Groeëte lûij' (16+) and 'Ouw schmieters' (65+). In addition, there is the playful 'Maasdörpe-kemp', in which villages compete against each other. Rivalry between Stokkem and Obbicht or Kotem and Elsloo? This is your chance to achieve eternal fame!

The winner? They will go home with a beautiful trophy. And for the first Maaslander, there is a unique prize: a ticket to the 2026 World Cup Stone Skimming in Scotland!

Practical information: register between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m. at Sporta Spot Maasland, Houtweg 225, Maaseik. The competition starts at 10:30 a.m.
Side entertainment, food, and drinks will be provided.
Ends around 9 p.m.

Come join in or just enjoy a day of fun by the water!
